Johnny Nixon, 74, of Morton, Texas passed away on September 30, 2023, in Longview, Texas.  Johnny grew up in Gladewater where by the time he could walk and hold a paint brush, he joined his father and brothers in the family painting business.
Johnny loved working in his yard and keeping up his garden.  He enjoyed canning his harvest with his late wife of 52 years,  Madeline Nixon.  Johnny,  loved working for Harleton ISD as a groundskeeper and keeping the fields mowed and kept up, that was his pride and joy.
Johnny also raised coon dogs throughout various times in his life and enjoyed coon hunting with family and friends.  He loved his family dearly, despite how big it was.  Johnny always looked forward to Friday night football and being involved in his community.  

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Reita and RC Thompson, his wife Madeline Jones Nixon and several siblings.; and his beloved grand-dog Chewy.

 
Johnny is survived by his son, John Bradley Nixon and daughter-in-law Melinda Lynn Nixon, his granddaughter, Aubrey Jade Nixon and her fiancé, Kolton Daniel Chapman; and several other siblings, nieces, nephews and family friends.

A visitation will be held 6:00PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Croley Funeral Home in Diana. Memorial Services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Morton Baptist Church.
