Judith "Judy" Anna Strand Jewkes

Judy was born on December 10, 1940, in Evanston, IL to Oscar and Judith (Sallquist) Strand. She passed away on October 26, 2024. On November 23, 1957, she married the love of her life, Richard Dale Jewkes, who lovingly called her “Weebles.”

After graduating from Palm Beach High School in 1958 and having her son, Kent, in 1959, she moved to Las Cruces, NM in 1961, where she began her banking career. Upon moving back to Florida in 1965, she resumed her banking. Judy went to work for First National Bank shortly after moving to Kelsey in October of 1975, where she retired from in 2004.

Judy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Those left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Sherry Jewkes-Larsen and son-in-law, David Larsen; brother, Stewart Strand and wife Judy; sisters- in- law, Sue Shulps, Lorelle Bacon, Rita Myers and Pixie Jewkes; brothers- in- law, Richard Jewkes and partner Karen Stull, Jim Jewkes and wife Diane; sons from other mothers, Kenny Nilsson and wife Beverly,  Morrison Coker and wife Gina; daughter- in- law, Lourdes Prachyl; special friends, Lynn Nilsson, Mary Craven and Debbie Copeland; grandchildren, Shane Jewkes, Jenifer Jewkes, Christopher Prachyl, Doug Moneypenny, Jr. and wife Christina, Brett Moneypenny and wife Richelle, Daniel “Danny” Todd and wife Mary Ann, granddaughter, Lilly, Carly Batchelor and husband Justin, Allyson Larsen and husband Blake Ware, Zach Larsen and wife Rachel Reams, Amanda Larsen and husband Joan Castro; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Dale Jewkes; son, Kent Stewart Jewkes; mother-in-law, Faye Dixon Fountain; father-in-law, Richard Rolla Jewkes; brothers-in-law, Kent Dixon Jewkes, Dana “Derge” Myers and Dan Dixon; sisters-in-law, Margaret Dixon, Kim Blakeney and Linda Jewkes; best friend, Juanita Coker and four- footed baby, Misti Mutt.

A special “thank you” to her “adopted" sister and caregiver, Patricia Ray, Linda Sellers, Dionne “Dee” Edwards, Obed Pina, Heart to Heart Hospice and her four-footed companion of almost 3 years, Penny Love.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions can be made to Kelsey Memorial Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 33 Gilmer, Tx 75644.

A service will be held at Kelsey Cemetery on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 11:00AM.
