Kathy Murray, age 70, of Gladewater passed away peacefully in the hospital on Sunday, May 4, 2026. 

Kathy was born in Wills Point, Tx. on April 29, 1956. She lived there for a couple of years before moving to Nacogdoches, Texas. She moved to other cities before settling in Gladewater. Kathy graduated from Union Grove High School on May 1975. 

Kathy married Keith Murray on September 4, 1977, where they lived in Gladewater for 48 years. Keith and Kathy recently celebrated 48 wonderful years together. Kathy worked in food service at Ambassador College, Salesmanship Youth Camp, and Gladewater High School for 10 years.

Kathy retired in June of 2013. She was a member of Grace Communion in Big Sandy. 

Kathy's greatest joy was her grandchildren. She loved each of them profoundly. Kathy had a rare gift of meeting each grandchild where they were; of actively playing with them, talking with them, and engaging them in activities using their imaginations for hours. She was fully present with each grandchild and has left each one with the lasting gift of knowing they were seen for who they were and loved completely. 

Kathy enjoyed the great outdoors loving to both fish and camp.  She was also known for how much she loved shopping!

Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Joe Pittman; son, Kyle Lee Murray; and her brothers, Charles Pittman and Douglas Pittman. 

Kathy is survived by her mother, Junie Pittman (Gladewater); brothers, Robin Pittman (Gladewater), Elvis Pittman (Gladewater), and Richard Pittman and wife Jean (Gilmer); sisters, Carolyn Sasser and husband David (Big Sandy), and Wanda Harness and husband Keith (Gilmer). She is also survived by her beloved husband, Keith Murray (Gladewater); her sons, Kevin Murray and wife Joanna (Richardson), Ken Murray and wife Cristy (Longview), and Kerry Murray and wife Sara (Big Sandy). Kathy had 7 grandchildren and two step grandsons and she adored them all. Her grandsons include Zach Murray, Brody Murray, Joseph Murray, Asa Austin, and Kamden Murray, as well as her granddaughters, Tiffany Murray and Clara Murray. Her stepsons, Kadin Bunn and Karson Byrd are left to treasure her memory as well. 

Visitation will be on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 6 to 8 in the evening at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas. A graveside service will then take place Saturday, May 9, 2026, 11 o'clock in the morning at Gladewater Memorial Park, Gladewater, Texas.
