Kenneth L. Myrick, 85, of Upshur County, Texas, went to be with his Lord, on Friday, May 22, 2026, in Tyler, Texas.
Kenneth was Born December 4, 1940, in Bay Springs, Mississippi, to Daniel H. and Cassie McClelland Myrick. He attended John Tyler High School, and also completed his education at Tyler Junior College. Kenneth proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He married the love of his life, Mary Diana Peters on September 26, 1964, in Tyler, Texas.
Ken began his career serving in the United States Air Force as a nuclear weapons deactivation specialist, a role that reflected his intelligence, discipline, and steady composure under pressure. After his military service, he worked alongside his brothers designing forklifts. He and his brother-in-law later founded a company, where he designed and manufactured forklifts and pumping units, earning a reputation for ingenuity, determination, and strong business leadership. After selling the business, his daughter convinced him to buy her a horse and he then dedicated himself to raising and showing cutting horses. His commitment and skill in the industry led to one of his proudest accomplishments when his horse won the prestigious National Cutting Horse Association Futurity in 1986.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mike Myrick; and two sisters, Louise Parrish and Doris Trow.
Survivors include his loving wife, Diana Myrick; daughter, Suzanne Welch; a son-in-law, Robert Welch; brother, Frank Myrick and spouse, Reba; sisters, Mimi Weston and spouse, Greg, Shirley Hogenmiller and spouse, Richard; three grandchildren, Kaylee Welch and spouse, Bethany, Nicole Pilcher and spouse, Rhett, Kendall Welch; and a great grandchild, Luke Pilcher.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the Gladewater Memorial Park Cemetery in Gladewater, with Pastor Wade Harman officiating.
