Kenneth Ray Shelton

Kenneth Ray Shelton, 85, of Longview, Tx earned his wings and soared ever higher to heaven to meet the Lord on January, 24, 2024. 

Kenneth was born to James Herman and Lula Mae Shelton of Coalgate, OK on February 11, 1938. He graduated from Olney High School in Oklahoma in 1953 and immediately went into the workforce. "Kenny" joined the U.S. Army in 1958, completed Basic Training at Ft. Chafee, Arkansas and proceeded overseas to Germany for duty with the 8th Signal Corps. He was discharged in 1960 and began his journey of many careers and jobs qualifying him as a "jack of all trades" that included welding, fabricating, repairing, and truck driving. He recently owned his own welding and trucking companies.

Ken's passion was his work but enjoyed hunting, fishing, and one of his favorite pastimes of barbecuing meats that included pork ribs as his specialty.  

Kenneth is predeceased by his mother and father, former wife of 37 years; Lynn Hunter. He is survived by his wife, Connie of Longview, Tx, son Wendell Shelton and wife; Bobbie of Gilmer, Tx, daughter Sandy Shelton Smith and husband; Rick of Kilgore, Tx, son Randy Shelton and wife; Janet of Calipatria, Ca, daughter Lori Shelton and husband; Daniel of Gladewater, Tx, step-son Scott Taylor and wife; Sharon of Mineola, Tx, step-son Todd Johnson and wife; Vickie of Homer, Ak. Kenneth is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Nazarene Church located at 401 W. Upshur Ave. Gladewater, Tx  on February 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM.

A Celebration of Life event will take place on February 24, 2024 at the residence of Scott Taylor located at the Red Fox RV Park, 427 FM 49, Mineola, Tx to begin at 3:00 PM. Please bring your favorite dish, barbeque will be the entree.
