Linda Kay (James) Gomez, 73 years old of Gladewater, Texas passed away on September 7th, 2026, surrounded by her husband and children.

Linda was born on August 28, 1953, in Sallisaw Oklahoma to Jessie and Artie (Drake) James. She grew up in Gum Springs, Oklahoma and enjoyed spending time at the nearby Lake Tenkiller. After marrying Sidney, the love of her life, they settled down in the East Texas area to raise their family.

Linda is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years, Sidney J. Gomez III, her daughter Carrie Hobbs and son in law Will of Gilmer and son Shane Gomez and daughter-in-law Jarah also of Gilmer and 5 beloved granddaughters, Shannon Hobbs, Paige Hobbs, Deanna Muckleroy, Elizabeth Gomez and Lena Gomez. She is also survived by her siblings, Rubie Butler (Jesse), John James (Barbara), and Rita James. Also, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ramona Domiano (Philip), Harold Gomez (Robbie) and Kenny Gomez (Nancy) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jessie and Artie, brothers Jerry and Larry James, and sister Sheila James and brother-in-law Rusty Gomez.

Linda enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. Spending the night at mawmaw’s house, you were guaranteed to get whatever you wanted, even if it was ice cream and soda for breakfast or the biggest slice of cheese from the block for a snack. She also enjoyed listening to her many albums, mainly gospel but also was known to listen to some good rock and roll such as the Eagles, Creedence Clearwater Revival and of course Elvis. She passed down her love for rock and roll to her daughter and granddaughters. She loved to cook and spent several years working in the food service industry both at Hallsville High School and Longview Regional Hospital. She also enjoyed word searches, planting flowers, and gardening. She was known for her stubbornness and was never afraid to tell you what was on her mind, a quality that many loved her for.

Linda did not wish for a public service and so the family will respect that wish. A private memorial will be held at a later date in Oklahoma to honor her final wishes.
