Linda McClelland Taylor, a beloved member of Upshur County, Texas passed away in Longview, Texas, on September 18, 2025. Linda was born on March 25, 1949, in Upshur County to Richard Edwin McClelland and Flora Belle Shrum McClelland.
Throughout her life, Linda was known for her meticulous nature as a bookkeeper for Don Talley Oil Co., where she spent many years ensuring that everything was in perfect order. Linda's contributions to the workplace were appreciated by her colleagues and she built lasting relationships throughout her life.
Linda loved her family and friends deeply, often sharing stories about her upbringing and fond memories of her life in Upshur County. She had an innate ability to connect with those around her, offering encouragement and support to anyone in need. Linda’s generosity knew no bounds, and her laughter was infectious, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Chris Taylor and wife Radonda of Caddo Mills; daughter, Stacy Word and husband John of Forney; brothers, Richard McClelland and wife Laura of Gilmer and Russell McClelland of Gilmer; brother-in-law, Tom Taylor and wife Sondra of Gilmer; sister- in- law, Eva Lou Harkrider of Gilmer; grandchildren, Jordan Taylor and wife Raina, Claire Taylor, Kyler Montgomery and wife Kenna and Kade Bailey; along with 3 great grandchildren.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Buddy Taylor.
A memorial graveside to celebrate Linda's life will be held on October 1, 2025, at Floyd Cemetery in Gilmer, Texas. Family and friends are invited to join together in remembrance at 10:00 AM, as they share anecdotes and stories that reflect the love and joy she brought into their lives.
