Lynda Kaye Phillips

Lynda Kaye Phillips, 78, passed away February 16, 2023 peacefully at her home.  Lynda was born to the late Ernest and Frances Dinger in Dequeen, Arkansas on February 28, 1944.

Lynda and family moved to Gilmer in 1971.  Lynda worked for the Department of Human Services for many years with her most rewarding assignment being with the Adult Protective Services Department where she really thrived working with the elderly in the community.  She then went on to work for the Texas Land Commissioner and the Texas Lottery Commission after which she retired.

Lynda loved her volunteer work with the Methodist Church Clothes closet during her retirement.  Her favorite thing about the volunteer work was the time spent with her friends doing meaningful work for the community.  In her retirement she also began playing Bridge on a regular basis with her friends in 2-3 different groups and it was the highlight of her week.  She loved sports, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks and Dallas Mavericks.

Lynda is preceded in death by her father and mother, Ernest and Francis Dinger, her brothers James and Lawrence Dinger and sister Betty Stout.

Left to cherish her life and memory are children Melanie Yates, Coppell, TX; Cyndi Robinson and husband Philip, Denver, CO; Michael Phillips, Gilmer, TX;  granddaughters Lyndi Isonhood and husband Justin, Gilmer, TX; Megan Fox, Denver, CO, Melinda Tortorici and husband Jack, Denver, CO; Fallon Phillips, Fayetteville, AR; Brother Tony Dinger of Dequeen, AR as well as many other loving family.

Until she became ill, she was very social and truly enjoyed some lifelong friendships with her Sunday School classmates and Bridge club members that she considered part of her extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Gilmer at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 under the direction of Croley Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the FUMC Clothes Closet in her memory, if you are led to do so.
