Marion Stephen Gann, lovingly known as M.S., was born December 13, 1944 to M.J. and Geraldine Gann. M.S. was called home to our lord on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 surrounded by family. He will be sorely missed by all those who had the privilege of crossing paths with him throughout his remarkable life. His profound impact on the community and his dedication to family and friends will forever be cherished.
His entrepreneurial spirit led him to reach great heights as the owner of Ore City Auto Sales and Body Shop. Through this venture, M.S. established himself as a respected figure in the local business community and touched the lives of countless individuals with his exceptional work ethic and integrity. Later on he went to work for Lone star Steel for many years before retiring.
Moreover, M.S.'s commitment was not only limited to his professional endeavors but also extended to making a positive impact within his community. He was an active member of Lakeview Baptist Church and devoted himself selflessly to helping those in need through his involvement with the church's food pantry program. His willingness to lend a hand to those facing adversity exemplifies the kind-hearted individual he was.
M.S.'s dedication to serving others extended beyond his community involvement; he also honorably served his country as a Navy War Veteran in Vietnam. Additionally, he held membership in the Masonic Lodge in Ore City for an astounding period of 48 years. These affiliations were testament to his unwavering loyalty and commitment throughout various aspects of his life.
Beyond M.S.'s professional achievements and community service, he possessed a multitude of hobbies and interests that brought him tremendous joy. One of his greatest pleasures in life was riding his lawnmower, where he found solace in the beauty of his surroundings and home. Another source of immense happiness for M.S. was spending time with his only grandchild, Stephanie Elaine Gann, whom he adored dearly. The bond they shared was truly special and a testament to the love he had for his family. Additionally, M.S. cherished his daily coffee shop gatherings with friends, offering him an opportunity to share laughter, and perhaps a bit of wisdom gained throughout his experiences.
M.S. is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen Jean Gann, who stood steadfastly by his side throughout their journey together. Their enduring love and unwavering support for one another were an inspiration to all who knew them. He leaves behind cherished memories for his son, Marion Stephen Gann Jr., and daughter-in-law, Royal Crystal Gann, brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Vicki Gann, sister Joye Cooper and her husband Randy, as well as two sisters-in-law: Cora Gann and Deedra Dent along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In honor of M.S. Gann there will be a memorial service at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Saturday November 4, 2023, starting at 11:00 in the morning with Brother Stanley Higginbotham officiating. The visitation will be 1 hour prior to service.
