Obituary

Mark Edwin Barnhill Sr. was born to the late Jimmie Barnhill and LaVerne Hanna Anderson in Shreveport, LA on August 22, 1953. Mark was raised in and lived in Gladewater, Texas all his life, he was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as a member of the Gladewater Baptist Church. Mark took after his grandfather hiring on with Texaco right out of high school, working there until his retirement. He then went back to school for various trade type certificates and eventual associates degree from Kilgore College, which he put to good use working at Analab in Kilgore for 20 years. Mark had stayed very active in the community over the years, to include his large group of classmates, hunting buddies, dancing friends, and traveling companions. Mark was the proudest of his grandkids, he enjoyed spending time at their sports events, taking them hunting, and going on trips. He loved to spend time in the garden, tending to his deer lease, chickens, dancing, and learning new hobbies. 

Mark is survived by his 3 children, Mark Barnhill Jr., Carmen and Jason Watkins, Cameron (Reece) Sr. and Claudia Barnhill, and a host of grand and great-grandchildren. 

Mark is preceded in death by his wife, Terry Barnhill; his parents, Jimmie Barnhill and LaVerne Anderson; his aunt, Ruth Cass; and grandson, Cameron Reece Barnhill Jr. 

A visitation will take place Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas from 5 to 7 in the evening.  A funeral service will be held Monday, May 18, 2026 at Croley Funeral Home starting at 11 in the morning. 

Pallbearers: Glen Kimbley, Eddie Kendall, Garth Cockrell, Mike Tucker, Jimmy Watson, James Garner, James Byrd, and Melvin Cordray.
