On August 11, 2026, Martha Sue Chilton went to her heavenly home. She was born on March 9, 1946, to Hewitt and Polly Short in Bowie County Texas.

Martha worked several jobs raising her two boys. She owned a beauty shop and two restaurants, dispatched for Cass County Sherrif’s department and worked at Lone Star Steel. She was loving and dedicated mother.

Martha enjoyed sewing, cooking, singing and playing the piano, traveling and shopping.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons Glenn Alan Neal (Jennifer) of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Brad Neal; stepdaughters, Jan Price (Shelia) and Rebecca Chilton; grandchildren, Greg Neal (Katey), Rachel Smith (Luke), Matthew Neal (Jennifer), Mark Neal (Courtney), Luke Neal, Sara Neal, Andy Roy and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband Larry Chilton; siblings, Bobby Short, Wilbur Short, Kathryn Harrison and Linda Sebesta; grandchildren, Wesley Chilton and Amy Baker.

Graveside services will be on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11 am at Walnut Creek Cemetery.
