Martin Luther “Marty” Yohn Jr., 76, of East Texas, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family he treasured above all else. Born on July 25, 1949, in Marshall, Texas, Marty lived a life defined by service, hard work, integrity, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Born to Martin Luther Yohn Sr. and Alma June Yohn, Marty grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School and earned a mechanical engineering degree from Texas A&M University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War achieving the rank of Captain and earned the bronze star for heroism. He carried with him throughout his life the values of duty, perseverance, and patriotism.
Marty went on to build a successful career and became a respected leader in the oil and gas industry. As an Executive for Cudd Services, he earned the admiration of coworkers and friends through his strong work ethic, practical wisdom, and ability to lead with both strength and humility.
In 1988, Marty married the love of his life, Jan Yohn. Together they built a life that became the center of his world. While he found success in his career, his greatest accomplishments were never measured by his titles or achievements, but by the relationships he nurtured and the love he shared with his family.
Outside of work, Marty found peace and happiness at Circle Y Ranch, where he enjoyed raising Longhorn cattle and taking in the beauty of nature. Whether watching birds from the porch, working on the ranch, or enjoying a quiet East Texas sunset, he appreciated life's simple blessings. Yet nothing brought him more joy than being Grandpa to his grandchildren. Their games, school events, accomplishments, and everyday moments filled him with pride and gave him endless stories to tell.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Alma June Yohn and Martin Luther Yohn Sr.; his beloved son, Brian Yohn; and his brother-in-law, Harold Darnell.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Jan Yohn; his siblings, Steve Yohn and wife Gale, Theresa Darnell, and Tom Yohn and wife Penny; and his children: Jennifer Hampton and husband David, Betsy Yohn and husband C.J. Barker, Sarah Odell and husband Chris, Chris Yohn and wife Lindsey, Susan Yohn, Matt Yohn and wife Kelly, the family of his late son Brian Yohn and wife Mandy Wilson, Andrew Yohn and wife KC, Todd Yohn and wife Erin, and Rebekah Cunningham.
He is also survived by the grandchildren who were the pride and joy of his life: Connor and Halle Hampton; Grace Barker; Carly, Kate, and Reese Odell; Stephen, Andrew, and Naomi Yohn; Alison and Porter Yohn; Jack and Henry Yohn; Andrea Yohn; and Abby and Will Yohn.
Those who knew Marty will remember his quiet strength, his steady presence, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his deep love for family. He taught by example, showing his children and grandchildren the value of hard work, loyalty, kindness, and keeping your word. His legacy lives on in the generations he helped shape and in the countless memories shared around family tables, on the ranch, and during the moments that mattered most.
Though our hearts are broken by his loss, we are grateful for the many years, memories, and blessings we shared with him. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply, the values he instilled, and the countless lives he touched along the way. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
