Marvin Merle Slater, born on October 9, 1939 in Allen Park, Michigan, to loving parents Leonard and Mary Slater. He lived a life filled with passion and adventure, embracing every moment with a smile on his face. An exuberant individual, he found joy in disco dancing during his younger days, and his spirit truly soared when he took to the skies as a close air fighter pilot during the Vietnam War.

After his military service, Marvin turned his talents to various ventures, from owning and operating Pneuma Fitness in Garland, TX to running a Radio Shack in Bonham, TX. With a keen mind for finance, he flourished as an investment broker, utilizing his master's degree to carve out a successful career. Throughout his life, he kept a strong connection to sports, particularly supporting his beloved Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars.

Yet, amidst all these accomplishments, Marvin found his greatest happiness in the simple moments sitting on his deck, taking leisurely walks with his wife Joyce, and sharing laughter with family and friends. He had an unwavering love for his family, treasuring every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchild, and great-grandchild.

Marvin is survived by his wife Joyce Slater, sons, Mark Slater and wife Amy, Michael Slater and Scott Prevratil, daughter, Michelle Bingham and husband Matt, grandchild, Amy Kinard and husband Dan, great-grandchild, J.D. Kinard, as well as his brother, Robert Slater and wife Betty.

Marvin's life will be celebrated and remembered by all who knew him as a man of humor, warmth, and kindness. His presence will forever linger in our hearts as we gather to honor his memory at the graveside service, to be held at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on August 21, 2024, at 11:15 am. Though we bid him farewell through burial at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211, his spirit will remain with us, a guiding light in our memories of a life well-lived.
