Mary Nell Carlisle

Mary Nell (née Boon) Carlisle of Holly Lake Ranch, a beloved soul who touched the hearts of many, passed away on June 24, 2024, in Mineola Texas. Celebration of Life services for Mary Nell will be at 2 p.m. on August 10th at Holly Brook Baptist Church.

Mary Nell was born on September 3, 1936, in Linden, Texas to the late Daniel Horace and Erna Leola (née Fuller) Boon, the oldest of two children. She lived in Linden, Texas and graduated from Linden-Kildaire High School. Mary Nell went on to earn a B.A. from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. Before attending East Texas State University, she married her high school sweetheart, Pat Carlisle, whom she cherished as her husband for 63 years. Following her graduation, she taught in schools in East and Central Texas and later assisted her beloved husband as he owned and operated several businesses in Linden and Dallas.

Mary Nell was a devoted mother to two sons, Andrew Carlisle and Russell Carlisle. Together with her husband Pat, she was a very involved parent and supported her sons as they excelled in various artistic and athletic pursuits.

Mary Nell’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, kindness, and compassion. She loved her family and friends and prioritized quality time with those she loved above all else. She enjoyed planning community and social events and had a keen eye for interior design and home décor. She was involved in various women’s organizations across East Texas and Dallas, devoting countless hours to causes supporting the health, safety, and wellbeing of women and children. She was also an active member at Holly Brook Baptist Church.

Mary Nell’s memory will be forever cherished by her surviving family: son, Russell Carlisle, brother Dan Boon and wife Janet, granddaughters, Ashley Carlisle and Allie Carlisle as well as many other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Pat Carlisle, and son, Andrew Carlisle.

The family is grateful to all who cared for and loved Mary Nell in her final years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Holly Brook Baptist Church (3219, Hawkins, TX 75765) or Mt. Pisgah Cemetery (4995 FM 49, Mineola 75773) in Wood County, Texas.
