Melba Joyce Blood

Melba Joyce Blood went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. She was truly a child of God, and she will be welcomed into heaven with much rejoicing.

She was born in New Mexico on November 3, 1940. She married Teddy George Blood in 1959. She grew up in New Mexico; moving to East Texas in 1970. Ms. Joyce was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 40 years. She had a servant’s heart and always knew and always knew her calling was to work with children.  She touched many lives as she kept the nursery throughout the years. She made sure all her children had a drug problem: They were drug to church on Sunday morning, drug there on Sunday night, and drug there on Wednesday night. They were also drug to every Vacation Bible School and every choir event. Joyce also had a love of baking and could bake the best cakes. She made German Chocolate Cakes and Italian Cream Cakes from scratch. She never used a box mix in her life.

She is survived by her sister, Judy Ann Casady; children Jerry Frank Blood; Robin Blood Temple (Raymond Temple), Teddy Ferlin Blood, and Shawn Keith Blood; grandchildren Hunter Hoover Blood, Jennifer Robinson, Brigida Romano-Ryan (Matt Ryan), Chasity Grigsby (Anthony), Kara Jenkins (Crocket), Kolby Blood (Kayla), Micah Blood, Jonah Blood, and Cody Blood (Rebecca) and many great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Teddy George Blood, parents Marvin and Lillian Perkins, brothers Leon and Jerry Perkins.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, with a burial in Melrose, New Mexico on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
