Michael Lee Askew

Michael Lee Askew, 70 of Big Sandy, died December 31, 2023. Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 5, 2024, in the Chapel of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with Mr. Perry Cowan officiating.  Private family interment will take place at Hoover Cemetery.

Mike was born November 12, 1953, in Pasadena, Texas to Edward and Mary Davis Askew.

Mike worked in the family businesses through the years moving mobile homes, farming, and doing dirt work. He enjoyed the outdoors.

He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years serving as chief for 10 years. Mike is survived by his mother, Mary Askew; five brothers; three sisters; their respective spouses, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family.

There will be a reception immediately following Mike’s service at the Pritchett Community Center.

Private family interment will take place at Hoover Cemetery.
