Obituary

Michael Edwin Miears, 59 of White Oak passed away October 25, 2026, at his residence. He was born on December 20, 1966, in Ruston, Louisiana to Horace Miears and Bobbie Kay Miears.

Michael's memory will live on through his daughter and son-in-law, Chelsea and Jordan Ferguson, sister, Kelly McCorkle, beloved grandchildren, Paisley Miears, Sutton Ferguson, and Jenson Ferguson, nephew Jesse McCorkle, niece, Tina and her husband Doug Pannell and their two children Hailey and Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Mikey Miears, sister and brother-in-law, Danny and Lisa Barnett and brother-in-law, Dee McCorkle.

Budger, as he was lovingly known by everyone who knew him, lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and a deep love for his family. A longtime resident of White Oak, Texas, he worked as a self-employed electrician for most of his life and was always willing to lend a helping hand or take on an odd job. He was the kind of man who could fix just about anything with his hands. Whether he was working on a car, motorcycle, stereo system, or project in the shop, he was happiest when he had something to tinker with. Although he was known for his stubborn streak, beneath that tough exterior was a kind and generous man who never hesitated to help others.

Budger had a lifelong love for motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons, and enjoyed the freedom of being out on the open road. He also loved classic rock and could often be found driving with the windows down and the music blaring in his rigged up stereo system taking up the entire backseat. He treasured memories of fishing at Lake O’ Pines with his parents and enjoyed playing pool with his son, Mikey. The two of them knew how to hustle anyone. Whether he was working in the shop, riding his motorcycle, or simply enjoying the things he loved, Budger found happiness in life’s simple pleasures.

Above all else, Budger loved his family. His two children, his son Mikey and his daughter Chelsea, were among his greatest sources of pride. Although he lost his beloved son, the love he carried for Mikey never faded. His daughter, Chelsea, remained a constant source of joy in his life. He never hesitated to tell her how much he loved his “Chelsea bug,” and he was always there to support her. He showed up for her sporting events, special occasions, and all the moments that mattered. One memory that will always bring a smile is the day he volunteered to help run the bases at her softball practice, only to take a tumble on his way to first base and eat dirt. It was a moment of laughter that perfectly captured the kind of memories his family will treasure forever.

His love extended just as deeply to his grandbabies, Sutton and Jenson. He delighted in bringing them toys he had found and dropping by with pizza, finding his own special ways to make them happy and remind them they were loved. He never needed a special occasion to show he cared. Those thoughtful gestures were simply part of who he was.

If there was one person who held an especially precious place in Budger’s heart, it was his momma, Bobbie, lovingly known as “Mamaw.” He adored her and was, without a doubt, her baby boy. In her eyes, he could do no wrong, and he loved her with a devotion that never wavered. Their bond was one of a kind, and the love they shared remained a treasured part of his life. Budger’s beloved dogs also held a special place in his heart, particularly his many dogs named Trevor. Over the years, each dog carried the same name because that was the only name Mamaw could remember. What began as a practical choice became a sweet family tradition and another reflection of the love and humor that surrounded him.

The last three years of Budger’s life brought challenges that would have tested anyone. After surviving a devastating house fire, he faced numerous medical struggles, yet he continued to fight through more than most could imagine. His strength and perseverance were a testament to the determination that had carried him throughout his life.

Budger will be remembered for his hardworking hands, generous heart, stubborn spirit, love of classic rock and Harley-Davidsons, and, most importantly, the love he gave so freely to those closest to him. He was a father who showed up, a grandfather who thought of the little things, a devoted son who cherished his momma, and a man whose presence left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.

Though his earthly journey has come to an end, we find comfort in imagining him back on the open road, riding his Harley once again, free from pain and worry. We picture him reunited with his beloved parents, his son Mikey, and all of his faithful dogs named Trevor, who are no doubt happy to see their Budger again. You will be loved and missed always. Until we meet again.

At this time, no formal funeral service will be held. His family has chosen to honor and remember him privately, surrounded by the people who loved him most. They are grateful for the kindness, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time and respectfully ask for privacy as they grieve and celebrate his life in their own way.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
