Myrtle Marie Worden

Myrtle Marie Worden, 92, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Marie was born on November 13, 1931 in Anson, Texas to Thomas and Myrtle Gipson and was raised at birth by her sister, Laura and Lacy Minshew. 

Marie grew up around Simpsonville and Brumley where she attended Brumley Baptist Church. After graduating high school at Union Hill, Marie moved to Dallas where she met Coy Worden and they were married on May 4th, 1956. Coy and Marie had two daughters; Lisa and Teresa. She was a longtime secretary for Dallas ISD where she retired.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Worden, both parents, daughter, Lisa Smith, sister, Marguerite Henderson, brothers, Mansel Gipson, Shorty Gipson, and great-granddaughter, Madison Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Walker and husband, Bradley of Tyler, TX, son-in-law, JD Smith and wife, Beverly of Dallas, TX, granddaughter, Chelsea James and husband Matt of Lantana, TX, grandsons - Justin Higgenbotham and wife, Nicole of Palmetto, FL, Chase Smith of Knoxville, AR, Coylton Hogue and wife, Jamie of Tyler, TX, twelve great grandchildren, 5 girls, 7 boys.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 9:30AM at Simpsonville Cemetery in Simpsonville, TX. under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
