Norman Buckler Newsome (Buck) passed away on September 4, 2025, at his home in Gilmer, Texas. He was born August 7, 1952, in Houston, Texas. Buck was the son of Norman and Marjorie Buckler Newsome. He was a devoted preacher for the United Methodist Church, dedicating his life to serving others and spreading the message of faith and hope.
Buck was a proud Navy veteran, exemplifying the virtues of courage and commitment. His military service inspired him to become actively involved in organizations that supported fellow veterans, including the Disabled American Veteran Association and the Blind Veteran Association. Through these affiliations, he offered strength and encouragement to those who needed it most, embodying the spirit of service that defined his life.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nora Newsome; sons, Jack Cornwell, Nathanael Fluellen and Josh Herring and daughters; Tommie
Newsome, Christie Newsome, Lauren Cornwell, Lauren Edwards and Anna Fluellen; brothers, John Norman Newsome and wife Janie; sisters: Robyn Al’laier and husband Roland, and Rande Brown. His beloved grandchildren: Acamus, Kairi, Koryn, Amelia Hope, Jayson, Gwendolyn and Natalie. His grandchildren were very close to his heart with such abundance of love.
Buck is preceded in death by his father and mother, Norman and Marjorie Newsome, a sister, Holly Brooks and John B. Newsome, his nephew he loved as his son.
A graveside service honoring Norman will be held on September 9, 2025 at Simpsonville Cemetery in Texas, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
