Onna Kay McCaffiety Hester

Onna Kay McCaffiety Hester, 52, of Gladewater, Texas entered into God’s kingdom on Sunday, June 25, 2023. Even though she had been suffering from chronic illnesses for a while, her death was very unexpected.  Onna was born August 5,1970 in Kilgore, Texas to Tommy and Delma McCaffiety.

Onna is preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Delma McCaffiety; and her father in law, Jody Hester. She is survived by a long list of people who loved her, including, but not limited to: her husband, Terry Hester; her three daughters and their families, Natalie, Erik, and Olivia Powell; Kimberly, Raymond, Brooklyn Kay, and Paxton Khan; and Jodi, Zach, and Mia Hicks; her Mother in law Marie Hester; her sisters and their families, LeeAnn Bolanos, and Tonya and Joe Gonzales; her nieces and nephews and their families, Curt, Chase, and Brady Johnson and their families, Sonia Ruby and Samantha Gonzales and their families, Riggs and Emmie Hester and their families; and many beloved friends including Lorissa Bingham and Sheila Jones.

Onna was the most fiercely loving and loyal daughter, mother, wife, and friend.  If you needed anything, she would do whatever she could to help. Onna lived in East Texas her whole life, so she loved to get out of town as often as she could.  Onna loved RVing and taking road trips.  If there was a historical marker, you better believe she was going to stop and read it.  One of her favorite places to be was on a beach listening to the waves splash around her. 

Onna was a truly great woman whose impact will be forever felt by her family and friends.  She was a selfless woman whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of her loved ones.  Her ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever ingrained in all who knew her. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother and father, until they passed away. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 1 at 1:00 PM with a service following at 2:00 at Croley Funeral Home at 401 N Center St, Gladewater, TX. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to East Texas Alzheimer’s Alliance or the Greater Longview United Way.
