Patricia "Patt" Lindsey

February 17, 1937 — July 4, 2024

Patricia Juanita Fowler Lindsey passed peacefully from this world on July 4, 2024 at the age of 87 years old at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas.

Patt (with two t's) as she was affectionately known, was born on Feb. 17, 1937 to Dick and Oma Fowler. She graduated from Gilmer High School in 1955 and would later receive her bachelors degree in business from East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Tx. Patt married her one true love, Glynn Lewin Lindsey from Gilmer and to their union was born two beautiful children, Robin Lee Lindsey and Rodney Lewin Lindsey.

Family members surviving Patt are son, Rodney Lindsey and wife Cathy of Gilmer; granddaughter, Adrienne Lee Lindsey Davis and husband, Drew of Bonn, Germany; granddaughter, Kelli Anita Lindsey of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandson, Glynn Joseph Lindsey and wife, Morgan of Gilmer; great-grandsons, Hudson Sawyer Paty and Luca Hayes Paty of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Wade Kelly Lindsey and Dalton Wray Lindsey of Gilmer.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Glynn; her daughter, Robin; her parents, Dick and Oma Fowler and her brothers B. G. Fowler, Richard Fowler and Mack Fowler.

Patt was a survivor! She endured many hardships in her life. She was badly burned at the age of eight and lived in the Galveston Burn Center for two years. She underwent many surgeries during that time and also for years to come. She lost her husband at the age of 34 leaving her with two small children to raise and also lost her beloved daughter, Robin at the age of 21.

But Patt was also an over-comer and God blessed her with intelligence and perseverance. She faced each challenge in her life head on and with gusto. With the help of family and sometimes working three jobs at a time, she raised and provided for her little family. She learned how to do many things on her own and with training. She worked in the medical field for years as a secretary and also medical transcriptionist. She worked for Yazell Chevrolet in Gilmer, as an assistant to Buck Florence, Texas representative, The Foreign Service in Bogata, Columbia, the Gregg County Commissioners Court in Longview and finally opening up her own insurance company, Especially for Seniors, where she specialized in helping senior citizens with Medicare supplements. She wore many hats in her lifetime, too numerous to mention!

Patt led a very interesting life. She was able to travel all over the world including New Zealand, Africa, Greece, Italy, Germany, Canada just to name a few. She traveled every year for many years with several of her high school classmates, known as "the girls of the fifties" to a different destination. Patt sang in a piano bar in Houston as her lifelong friend Glennie Scott played piano. She loved animals and will be buried with the ashes of her beloved schnauzer, Winston, who was her constant companion for 14 years until his passing.

Patt loved life and absolutely lived it to the fullest. She will be missed by family and friends alike.

A Celebration of Life service will be held, 2:00 PM Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Enon Baptist Church. A private interment will be held at a later date.
