Rex Leroy Varner

Mr. Rex Leroy Varner, age 90, of Gilmer, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at his home in Gilmer. He was born to the late Obie and Lula (Lansdale) Varner on June 6, 1926 in Bettie, TX. Mr. Varner was a self-employed truck driver and proudly served in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nell Varner; sons, Jimmie Varner of Pritchett, Charles Varner and wife, Kathy of Bettie, and Billy Varner of Gilmer; daughter, Vayden Gibson and husband, Kevin of Gilmer; brother, A.D. Varner of Bettie; grandchildren, Courtney and Heather Varner, Sara Fletcher, Keala, Caitlyn, and Kevin, Jr. Gibson; and 14 great grandchildren. Rex is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Gaylynn and Charles W. Varner. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Dicky Mauk officiating.
