Robert Donald ‘Duck’ Reagh entered the gates of heaven on Friday, November 15, 2024, just 19 days shy of his 92nd birthday. Don was born in Overton, Texas on December 4, 1932 to Robert Burney & Lera Brooks Reagh. He attended Leverett’s Chapel school where he played football, baseball, ran track, and most importantly met the love of his life, June.
Don and June married September 1, 1951 and spent the early years of their marriage building their family and living in Venice, Louisiana. In 1960, Don surprised June by taking her to visit a farm for sale in Diana, Texas. On the return trip home June joked, “Wouldn’t it be so funny to tell that man you were going to buy that farm?” Don replied, “I did buy that farm”. Together they built their home, raised a family and turned a raw piece of land into a working ranch. Don was always known as a hard worker. He was a dedicated employee at Texas Eastman, retiring as a Shift Foreman after 31 years.
At 7 years old, Don gave his life to Christ and his life gave testimony to the benefit of walking with the Lord daily. Don was a quiet leader in the church and served faithfully as a deacon. Don was passionate about his service in the Texas Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief Missions. For over 30 years he responded to disasters across the world, from Ground Zero in New York City immediately after 9-11 to Sri Lanka in 2004 in the aftermath of a catastrophic tsunami. Don never hesitated to answer the call when others were in crisis, and he never met a stranger. Don was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge for over 65 years.
Don was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 70 years, 4 months and 3 days June Wininger Reagh, son Robert “Bobby” Reagh, and great-grandson Rex David Dickerson, his parents Robert & Lera Reagh, brothers Herman Reagh and Randy Reagh, and sister Nelwyn Brooks Haught. He is survived by his beloved daughters Donna June Reagh, Jackie Reagh Oliver and son-in-law Curtis Oliver, Karen Reagh Anderson and son-in-law Rick Anderson, all of Diana, sister-in-law Mozell Reagh of Kilgore, sister-in-law Shirley Wininger of Kilgore, brother-in-law Mike Doering and sister-in-law Waldine Doering of Springville, California, brother-in-law Clif Ketchie of Springfield, California, fifteen grandchildren, fifty-one great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren….and counting.
More than anything, Don was proud of his family. He led them by example. His faith was unwavering and his love for his family was unconditional. Don’s life could be summed up by the following words: faith, family, football and his farm. He will be missed by all who know him, but especially by those who called him Daddy & Papa. His and June’s legacy of faith and love will live on for generations to come.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” 2 Timothy 4:7
