Robert Roland Johnson

Robert Roland Johnson was born on November 18, 1941, in Gilmer, TX to the late Roland Lee Johnson and Ovie Elizabeth (Rutledge) Johnson.  He passed away on February 6, 2024 in Wichita Falls, TX.

He graduated from Monahan’s High School. Robert joined the U.S. Navy from 1963-1969 and was stationed in Hawaii and Alaska. Robert married his one and only true love, Kathleen, on November 25, 1970, who preceded him in death in 1983 after only 13 years together.

Robert's interests were in electronics, construction, music, and ballroom dancing. He was a very optimistic person and loved helping others be optimistic by making humorous comments. Robert also enjoyed creative writing, he kept a collection of his stories and poetry. He was a kindhearted and generous man who loved God, his family, friends, and country.

Robert is survived by his sister, Jennie Norris of Wichita Falls, Tx, her children, and the children of his brother, Jamie Lee Johnson.

Graveside services for Robert will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev Matthew Smith officiating. A visitation will be held Monday evening, February 12, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
