Roger David Carrington
December 30, 1957 - October 17, 2026
Roger David Carrington, 68, of Diana, Texas, entered into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ on October 17, 2026. Born December 30, 1957, to Thomas and Marjorie Carrington, Roger lived a life of faith, laughter, love, and the kind of human connection that leaves an impression long after a persons earthly journey has ended.
To know Roger was to know laughter, warmth, and the unmistakable joy of a man who seemed to find a friend wherever he went. He was spirited, outgoing, wonderfully unforgettable, and, in every sense of the word, a character.
Roger always seemed to have time for one more conversation, he made everyone feel welcomed. Yet beneath the laughter and larger-than-life personality was a man of extraordinary conviction. Roger believed that character was revealed not in what a person claimed to be, but in how they chose to live. Honesty and integrity were not simply virtues he admired; they were principles he held sacred. His convictions were strong, but they were accompanied by a humility that allowed him to recognize his own imperfections.
Roger understood that integrity did not require a person to be without fault, but rather to possess the courage to acknowledge. At the very center of Rogers life was his unwavering faith in God. It was deeply personal, an ongoing conversation with God and the Lord, whom he trusted above all else. He sought Gods wisdom in uncertainty, his strength in hardship, and his guidance in all he did. His faith taught him that Gods love was greater than human judgment, that grace was not reserved for a select few, and that His compassion knew no boundaries. He believed that faith without kindness was missing its very purpose. It was a conviction that spoke not only to the depth of his faith, but to the generosity of the love he held within his heart.
That same spirit shaped the father he was to his daughters, Lacey and Mindy. Roger encouraged them to think for themselves, pursue their ambitions, and face the world with courage and conviction. His love did not demand perfection or agreement.
His love extended just as deeply to his five grandchildren, Zoey Parsons, Talon Coleman, Zane Coleman, Harper Coleman and Kole Jeffery. Through them, his legacy lives on in the stories they will hear, and the values and love passed from one generation to the next. As one of four brothers, Roger treasured the bonds of family and the lifelong connection he shared with Tommy and Darlene Carrington, Ronnie Carrington, and Mike and Billie Carrington. He loved his brothers deeply, and there is comfort in imagining the joyful reunion awaiting him with his beloved brother Mike Carrington, Brothers in Law Jack Jones and Gary Tatum. And through every chapter of Rogers life, there was Helen. On May 17, 1979, Roger married Helen Louise Carrington, the woman who would become his closest companion, his greatest comfort, his best friend, and the love of his life. For more than 47 years, theirs was a love woven into the very fabric of one another's lives, strengthened by keeping God first. She cared for him with patience, and selflessness, offering him the comfort of knowing that whatever life brought, he would never face it alone. Theirs was a love that grew beyond the words *in sickness and in health* and became a living testament to what those vows were always meant to mean. And when their time together on this earth came to an end, Helen was still beside him, loving him with the same unwavering devotion that had carried them through more than four decades together. Roger and Helen will be remembered for the beautiful life they shared and their faithfulness.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Louise Carrington; his daughters, Lacey Carrington Emmons and Mindy Lewellen; his grandchildren, Zoey Parsons, Talon Coleman, Zane Coleman, Harper Coleman and Kole Jeffery; His son-in-law Mark Emmons, a friend and brother in Christ; Nephews and Nieces, David Tatum, Andy and Theresa Carrington, Luke and Laura Carrington, Elizabeth Carrington, Gary Wayne and Shelly Carrington, Chad Carrington, Chelsea Carrington, John Paul Jones and lan Jones.
Brother and Sister-in-law Jack and Maria Jones. His beloved little dogs, Tuffy, Tiny, and Monkey who stayed faithfully by his side until the very end, as loyal in their love as he was in his.
A memorial service and observance of Rogers life will be held on November 8, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Carmelas Magical Venue, 6085 US-259, Longview, Texas 75605.
