Ruth Ann McAfee

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Ruth Ann McAfee, who left us peacefully on July 30, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on June 8, 1958, Ruth spent her life dedicated to helping others—notably as a LVN at Truman W. Smith, where she found such joy working with special needs children. Her warmth and compassion touched the lives of many, creating a lasting impact in her community.

Ruth was a spirited woman who cherished life’s simple pleasures. Whether it was riding horses under the wide Texas sky or planning her beloved Halloween and Christmas decorations, she had a knack for bringing joy to those around her. Her home was always a beacon of light and festivity, loved by neighbors and friends alike.

Above all, Ruth was a devoted family woman. She leaves behind her cherished husband, Wetzel McAfee; her loving sons, Michael Carter and his wife Brandi, and Jake Carter and his wife Carrie; and her four beloved grandchildren, Kaden, Hannah, Brayden, and Hailey. Each of them will carry her spirit with them, forever grateful for the warmth and love she provided.

As we celebrate Ruth’s life, we will gather for a memorial service that will take place at Calvary Baptist Church in Longview, TX on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11 o'clock in the morning with a visitation starting just prior at 10. All who knew and loved Ruth are invited to come together to pay tribute to a wonderful woman whose legacy of kindness and love will never be forgotten.

In the days to come, let's hold tight to the memories of Ruth Ann McAfee, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose spirit will continue to inspire us all.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Farris as well as her brother, James "Jimmy" Farris.
