Ruthie Hardin, a beloved member of the Kilgore community, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on August 2, 1955, in Kilgore, TX, Ruthie touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a lasting legacy as a devoted wife, nurturing mother, cherished grandmother, and a dear friend to many.

Ruthie dedicated her life to education, having worked as a dedicated teacher at Sabine Schools for an impressive 27 years. With her warm-hearted nature and compassionate spirit, she became a mother figure to countless students, fostering a nurturing environment for learning and growth. Ruthie's commitment to her students was unwavering, creating a lasting impact that will be remembered for generations to come.

Outside the classroom, Ruthie found joy and adventure in exploring the world. Known for her love of travel and island hopping, she treasured every opportunity to experience new cultures and embrace the beauty of nature. Her zest for life was truly contagious, bringing smiles to the faces of those fortunate enough to share in her adventures.

Ruthie had a profound love for the great outdoors. She found tranquility in the serenity of nature, spending countless hours outside enjoying the natural beauty that surrounded her. Whether walking through vibrant fields of wildflowers or watching the golden sunset paint the sky, Ruthie found solace in the simple pleasures of life.

Family and friends were the cornerstone of Ruthie's existence. She cherished the moments spent together, creating lasting memories filled with love, laughter, and joy. Ruthie's home was always open, welcoming anyone who needed comfort, support, or simply a kind listening ear. Her unconditional love and genuine warmth touched the hearts of all, leaving an indelible mark on every life she touched.

Among her many passions, Ruthie found solace in music. She shared her beautiful voice as a member of the church choir, lifting spirits and praising the Lord with every note. Ruthie's passion for life was also evident on the dance floor, where she would twirl and glide with grace, spreading infectious happiness to all around her.

In her free time, Ruthie enjoyed cooking and entertaining loved ones with her delicious creations. She had a special talent for whipping up her famous spaghetti, a dish that brought smiles and satisfied appetites to countless gatherings. Her kitchen was always filled with laughter, stories, and the wonderful aroma of home-cooked meals.

Ruthie Hardin is survived by her devoted spouse, Ben Hardin, her loving son Wesley Hardin, her adoring grandson Nathaniel Hardin and spouse Tish, and great-granddaughter Maia Hardin, her cherished grandson William Hardin and spouse Kayla and granddaughter Paige Hardin, her beloved daughter Melissa Hardin Miller and cherished granddaughter Presley Miller and grandson Chandler Miller. She is also survived by her brother John Ellerd and sister-in-law Alecia Ellerd, as well as her brother Robby Ellerd and sister-in-law Pam Ellerd. Ruthie is preceded in death by her precious daughter, Deanna Hardin.

The community mourns the loss of Ruthie Hardin, but we also celebrate her remarkable life and the countless blessings she bestowed upon us all. Funeral services will be held on February 6, 2024, at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Kilgore, TX. Prior to the funeral, a public viewing will take place on February 5, 2024, at 5:30 pm at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, TX.

Following the services, Ruthie will be laid to rest in a peaceful burial ceremony, symbolizing her return to the embrace of nature that she held so dearly. Her final resting place will be a testament to her vibrant spirit, always watching over her beloved Kilgore community.

Ruthie Hardin will forever be remembered for her love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family and education. Her legacy will remain etched in the hearts of those she touched, reminding us to embrace life's adventures, find joy in nature, and always nurture the bonds of love and friendship.
