Obituary

Sandra (Sandy) Elizabeth (Shaw) Tuttle passed away August 11th surrounded by family. She was born June 11, 1937 to George and Thelma Shaw in St. Louis, MO. She was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic church in Union Grove, TX.

Sandy graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas TX. After graduation she attended St. Paul’s Nursing School where she obtained her nursing degree. She met the love of her life Andy Tuttle and they were married on December 28, 1961; they celebrated their 58th anniversary in 2019. Together she and Andy raised five children. She returned to school later in life and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Tyler all while working and raising five children.

Sandy worked for Good Shepherd Medical Center as a registered nurse for over 30 years. She was loved by all her co-workers who affectionately called her “Queenie”. Sandy enjoyed getting together with her former co-workers (AORN) Association of Operating Room Nurses for lunch every month after she retired. She also worked for The University of Texas at Tyler Health Science Center after retiring from Good Shepherd Medical Center.

She was also very involved with the St. Theresa's ladies guild where she served in many different capacities over her lifetime. She could be found after Mass on Sunday mornings in the kitchen making coffee with her best friend Ernestine Sawyer. She loved theTexas Rangers Baseball team, Texas History, sweet tea and Dr. Pepper.

She is survived by her five children: Tom Tuttle of Union Grove,TX; Terri Tuttle Woodfin (Andy) of Union Grove, TX; Anne Tuttle of Dallas, TX; Patrick Tuttle (Raja) of El Paso, TX; Mary Tuttle (Daniel Britton) of Dallas, TX. Sister Margaret Shaw Maninno of San Diego, CA; Grand Children: Drew Woodfin (Jackie) of Arp, TX; Brody Woodfin (Ale) of Lake Jackson, TX; Zack Woodfin (Kristen) of Union Grove, TX; Seth Woodfin (Jerica) of Denton, TX; Katherine Tuttle (Ky Lampley) of Ore City, TX; John Tuttle, Tori Tuttle Ninemire (Caleb) of Plano, TX; Hannah Tuttle Gibson (Eli) of Dallas, TX; Great-Grandchildren: Addyson Woodfin, Zander Woodfin, Luke Woodfin, Beau Woodfin, Caenen Woodfin, Kysia and Mattix Lampley. Numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Andy Tuttle, parents George and Thelma Shaw and sister Kathleen Shaw Ribbons.

A rosary will be recited Sunday, evening, August 16th at 5pm followed by visitation from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, TX.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, August 17th, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Union Grove with Reverend Andrew Smith officiating at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Union Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Theresa Ladies Guild in her name.
