Sharon "Sherry" Frances Waggoner Beall

Sherry was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, May 13, 1943, when her mom and dad moved there at the time he was called to WWII. After the war, they all moved to Gladewater, Texas, where Sherry attended Gladewater schools until her graduation in 1961.

She met and married William Beall, Jr. in 1961; their daughter, Diane Beall McKnight, was born on January 6, 1963.

Awards and honors: Sherry received multiple awards and honors in her lifetime as a legal secretary; namely, Legal Secretary of the Year for Longview, Texas and Legal Secretary of the Year for the State of Texas. She acquired certification as a Professional Legal Secretary in 1978. She also worked for Howard Coghlan, Oil & Gas Attorney, as his legal assistant for more than 40 years. She continued as a legal secretary after his death, working for Dr. Peggy Coghlan, Mitchell Young, Esq., and William J. Gardner, Esq.

An additional award Sherry received was Outstanding Alumni for the Gladewater Former Students Association. She was on its Board of Directors for 21 years and its President two times.

She married William Malcolm Hewitt November 17, 2018. She had known Bill over 30 years ago and they were re-introduced by a mutual friend, and she and Bill enjoyed going on cruises and traveling for many years. Bill contracted Parkinson's and died when they had only been married 4 years.

She was predeceased by her husband, William M. Hewitt, her parents, Finis and Frances Waggoner, and her grandparents and great-grandparents. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Beall McKnight, and husband Joel McKnight, two grandsons, Jonathan McKnight, and wife Morgan McKnight, and Joshua McKnight.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 11 in the morning at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas.
