Sherry Shaffer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sherry Ann Shaffer, who left us on June 8, 2025, one day after her 78th birthday. Sherry was born on June 7, 1947, to the late Wiley Whisenhunt and Betty Knight Whisenhunt in Checotah, Oklahoma. She later met and married Bobby Joe Shaffer on December 21, 1984 in Gilmer, Tx.

Sherry was a lifelong resident of  Ore City, TX, She worked at Ore City ISD in the school cafeteria until her retirement. Her greatest accomplishments in her eyes was that of being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her family meant the world to her, and she took great pride in being a constant support to each of them. In her leisure time she enjoyed spending time with her family and numerous friends. Sherry will forever be remembered for her vibrant spirit, warmth, and love for her family.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Bobby Shaffer, their children John George, Tommy George, and Penny Shaffer, many grandchildren and nieces and nephews.   Sherry is preceded in death by her parents Wiley and Betty Whisenhunt and sister Brenda Shaffer.

 Friends and family are warmly invited to pay their respects during the public viewing at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home, Diana, Tx. on June 11, 2025, from 6-8p.m.

 A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at Croley - Diana on June 12, 2025, at 11:00 am, with burial to follow at Ore City Cemetery.

 We will miss Sherry dearly, but we find comfort in knowing that her love will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
