Thomas “Tom” Edward Davis, a lifelong resident of Gilmer, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. Born on November 6, 1932, in Gilmer, Texas to Bob Davis and Ila Mae Mathis Davis.
Tom graduated from Gladewater High School and continued his education at North Texas State College, where he graduated in 1954.
He was a dedicated insurance agent for East Texas Insurance and worked in real estate. Throughout his life, Tom was proud to be a member of the Bethesda Masonic Lodge #142 A.F. & A.M. and the Rotary Club, organizations that meant a great deal to him.
He was well-known in his community and had a special love for his hometown as an avid Gilmer Buckeye fan. Tom’s commitment to his work and community showed the kind of person he was—reliable, involved, and caring.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Davis; daughter, Liz Davis Burns; stepdaughter, Tami LaRose; niece, Becky Hoppee; 7 grandchildren, Dana Hasten Attlan, Jenny Hasten, Jessica Hasten, Hunter Davis, Hannah Davis, Cree Teel and Shayna Webb, along with 8 great grandchildren.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Ila Davis; first wife, Sue Davis; son, Tim Davis; daughter, Susan Hasten and sister, Betty Davis Smith.
A funeral service will be held at Croley Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM with visitation being 1 hour prior to service.
