Obituary

Vida Nell Craft, 83, of Ore City went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. She was born on January 20,1943 to Lawson and Wilma Ferguson in Upshur County, Texas. She was the oldest of four children and was raised in Ore City. Vida graduated from Gilmer High School and married her sweetheart and best friend Richard Craft on September 22, 1962. They were married for 64 years and were inseparable.

Vida and Richard raised their two children, Kelly and Chris Craft, in Ore City. They lived on the same street near family for most of their lives. Vida attended Kilgore College Nursing School and worked as an LVN and charge nurse at various nursing homes and clinics in the area.

She was an avid gardener and spent every morning circling her home checking on her flowers and plants. Each summer she had a beautiful garden overflowing with vegetables and loved to bless anyone that came by with the fruits of her labor. One of the things that brought Vida the most joy was having family and friends gathered in her home. She would call anyone not already at her house to “come down and eat” and truly had a gift for hospitality.

Vida was not only generous with her physical goods, but with her time. She and Richard were very involved in the lives of their grandchildren and loved having them come and stay at their house over the years. She enjoyed all of her nieces and nephews that lived close by and will be leaving behind a close family that will remember her fondly and miss her greatly.

Vida Nell is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Larry Ferguson, her daughter Kelly Pliler, and her husband Richard. She is survived by her son Chris Craft (wife Lori), four grandchildren-Lindsey Marshall (husband Tony), Lesley Moser (husband Travis), Ian Craft (wife Mackenzie), Emory Craft (wife Allyson)- sister Marilyn Raibourn, brother Norman Ferguson, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Croley Funeral Home (Diana) on Friday, July 24 at 2:00 pm. There will be a funeral service immediately following at 3:00 pm at the same location.
