Virginia Pope, 92, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 1921 at her residence. Private graveside services will be held at Center Cemetery in Harleton. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral home in Diana.
Virginia was born on December 30, 1928 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Noel and Myrtle Mae Easley. She attended college and earned her pilot’s license. She was the first woman to fly for the Texas Forest Service and later worked for an air-taxi service. Virginia was a very accomplished lady. She was the administrator of a hospital and owned a department store at one time.
Virginia is survived by her daughter: Caroline Hernandez, brother: Dennis Easley, sister Sharron Brown, grandchildren: Brandon Pope, James Paige, and Rebecca Pope, great-grandchildren: Blake Pope, and Emory Pope, niece: Elizabeth McGee and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: James Pope, son: David Pope, grandson: Michael Paige and two sisters.
