Vivion Eugene Mitcham, 93, of Gladewater, Texas passed away on March 14, 2022. Vivion Eugene “Mitch” Mitcham was born on April 22, 1928 to Vivion and Blanche Mitcham in Sharp, Texas. After Vivion graduated from Sharp High School in 1945, he went on to join the Merchant Marines and later the Army.

Vivion was blessed with 3 sons; Ronald Eugene Mitcham, Randy Mitcham, and Mark Preston Mitcham. In 1963, Vivion met Margaret Elaine Stewart in Arlington, Texas. Vivion and Margaret married in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963. Professional history professions ranged from cotton farmer, marine, soldier, mechanic, painter, surveyor, contractor, home builder, developer, restaurateur, boutique owner, rancher, ostrich farmer, golf course owner and operator, as well as gold miner, and was an entrepreneur in every sense of the word.

Vivion accepted the Lord as his savior on Easter Sunday in 1969, at the age of 41, and went on to be one of the most Godly men that many have ever known. He served as a deacon at North Phoenix Baptist Church, Phoenix, Arizona, First Baptist Church, Gladewater and chairman of deacons at Friendship Baptist Church, Gladewater for several decades. He often could be seen around town, sporting a fedora, singing a tune and telling others about how God had blessed him.

As hard as he worked, he enjoyed his hobbies, which included, golfing at renowned courses all over the world, mowing meticulous lines in his yard, and traveling with his bride of 56 years. In all his travels all over the world, he never found a burger he liked better than the ones made by his old buddy, Ronnie Maxey at Juicy’s.

Vivion was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Elaine Mitcham, father, Vivion Mitcham, mother, Blanche Mitcham, sister, Doris Andrews and brother-in-law, James (JC) Andrews, brothers, JW and Odell Mitcham.
