Wanda Fay Jarman

Wanda Fay Jarman, 75, of Gilmer passed away on February 24, 2023 in Longview, TX.  She was born on October 14, 1947 in Longview to the late William Oval and Georgie (Hall) Meyer.  She married Larry Jarman in July of 1966, and he passed away in December of 1971.  Wanda married Lonnie Mitchell on October 4, 1972.

Wanda started working as a server at Reber’s Root Beet Stand at the age of 14.  For over 49 years she worked as a server for many different restaurants in the Gladewater and Longview area including Denny’s, Shamrock, Henry’s and retired from working for The Ranch Café in East Mountain.  She was known as a dedicated, selfless, hard worker, who put everyone else’s needs ahead of her.  Wanda was fearless and would do anything that was put in front of her, including working cows or running a wood loader.  She had no quit in her, which was shown in a way that after she retired, Wanda quickly returned to her studies to obtain her GED.  Wanda’s passions in life were singing and dancing, which she loved to do.

She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Lonnie; children, Curtis Jarman, Kenneth and his wife, Burnetta Jarman, DaWanna Jarman, Lawan Starr; grandchildren, Christopher Jarman, Brittney Jarman, Shauntae Turner, CheyAnne Hawkins, Seth Jarman, Candous McGuire, Levi Starr; siblings, Nona Gordon, Patricia Shelton, Kenneth Meyer, Wilma Barton, Terry Meyer, Debra Wheeler, Rodney Meyer; as well as many other extended family members.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, William and Georgie Meyer; grandchildren, Krystal Jarman and Austin Alexander; siblings, Tony Meyer, Alma Gordon and Clifford Meyer.
