Wanda Joyce Pilcher (Ledbetter), age 82, passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2026, in Gladewater, Texas. She was born April 5, 1943, in Vina, Alabama.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, James Michael Pilcher of Gladewater, Texas; her beloved daughter, Rhonda Renee; her parents, John Coatesworth Ledbetter and Marie Corinne Ledbetter (Jackson) of Laird Hill, Texas; her siblings, Don Ledbetter, David Ledbetter, and Carol Ann Smith (Ledbetter); her great-grandson, Colby Watson (Kennedy); and several nephews.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Ron Kennedy (Anne) of McKinney, Texas; stepsons, James Michael Pilcher Jr. (Helen) of Gladewater, Texas, and Jarod Pilcher of Gladewater, Texas; grandchildren, Brandon Kennedy (Jamie) of Longview, Texas, Adam Kennedy (Kennedy Michelle) of Kilgore, Texas, Cody Kennedy of McKinney, Texas, Wesley Moses of Gladewater, Texas, Dakota Moses of Gladewater, Texas, Jordan Woods, and Sean Pilcher; and nine great-grandchildren, Teagan, Zander, Greyson, Hunter, Kadence, Addison, Rylee, Analise, and Callie Mae. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will lovingly honor her memory.
Wanda graduated from Leverett's Chapel High School and attended Kilgore College. Her career was in administration for several companies throughout the years, including Entex Gas Company, Food Fast Corporation, and J.A. Gathright & Associates. She also obtained her real estate license in Gladewater and worked with her brother at Ledbetter Real Estate for a time.
Wanda found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved collecting ceramic teapots and painting outdoor scenes. A woman of deep faith, she loved the Lord and devoted her life to living as a Christian example for others. Her daughter was her best friend, and she treasured every moment they shared.
Wanda’s heart was bigger than Texas. She cared for others without judgment and would go out of her way to help anyone in need. One of her favorite songs was “I Can Help” by Billy Swan, a fitting reflection of the way she lived her life. She also held a special admiration for her cousin, 1960s country singing star Wanda Jackson, and in her later years found comfort watching her performances, often remarking on their resemblance in their younger days.
Funeral arrangements are set for Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1043 FM 2685, Gladewater, Texas 75647. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, followed by services at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pritchett, Texas.
Wanda will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her kindness, faith, generosity, and the love she gave so freely.
